Hurricane Irene. Save the drums! Last viewed: 23 hours ago

Id love to hear some comments from people in the north-eastern United States about how things are going with Irene! Are you guys okay? Are you and your drums gonna get flooded out? Im most worried for y'all as people obviously, but Id be lying if I said I wasn't worried about the high population of killer drum kits up there! Whats the story?

I echo the sentiments about the safety of people. I also hope that the vintage drums escape destruction from the storm--especially the Walberg & Auge drums in New England.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

I live 2.5 hours away from New Orleans.. and the stories i heard about drums and cymbals just stacked up on the sides of the road from hurricane Karina were just incredible. Now of course that wasn't the most important thing to worry about.. the safety of people lives were most important.. but aside from that.. the pictures I saw of old gear just trashed was insane.

And again, these are two very different sizes hurricanes and situations.

Also i'm actually permanently moving from Louisiana to Rhode Island in 2 weeks.. Save the drums! haha. Good luck guys!

I'm in Staten Island. Some areas in NY city have actually been evacuated. The mayor gave a mandatory evacuation order for parts of all five boroughs. They expect that some parts of manhattan will be under 3 feet of water. All nyc public mass transtortation is shut down as of noon Saturday.

I'm in an area called a no zone, which means no flooding is expected, but there are lots of big trees here and I'm worried about the roof .Everythings tied down as best as could be.The power company(Con Ed) is stating they are expecting massive power outages.Nursing homes, and two island hospitals were evacuated also. This is the first time in the city's history that there have been mandatory evacuations, and complete shutdown of mass transit.

Nothing to do but sit tight. The only thing i'm not worried about is looters,I have that part covered pretty well.

I feel like i'm living inside of a discovery channel disaster senario.

Stay safe people...we'll make it through this.

The Walbergs and all the other treasures in the "cave" are safe. I've been proactive for days. We expect flooding here in Massachusetts. I think I'm in for long night, as the cellar has been known to flood.DOH

Irene Update,

5 inches of rain, but the new French drain system in the backyard kept the 'cave' dry. Just a little shop vac action near the bulkhead. By the time Irene made to the Bay State she had weakened to a tropical storm, so the winds weren't too bad. The drums are already set up again. All in all, was prepared for the worst and got the best. Life is good.
