That's what I was thinking too - it looks like a WMP version of the "Stage Band":

...but as late as the 1965 catalog, Slingerland was still showing clip-on tom mounts, and the kit in question looks like it's got a consolette-type tom mount. Maybe Slingerland was just lazy updating the catalog photos, since that same photo was also in some earlier catalogs...

One other thing I just noticed: that kit in question looks like it's got 6 lugs on the bass drum, and I don't see any Slingerlands with fewer than eight.

I wonder who was making Slingerland style knocks-offs c. 1960? Is that too early for a MIJ kit?

Regardless of the brand, I think it's a cool looking little set!

Interesting kit. I am wondering what the badges say. Looks like a clone

I think not Slingerland after all too.... there's a badge on the ride tom, and there shouldn't be until later in the sixties... sorry about the missed ID earlier.

Is this your set or are you just a fan?

Anyway, my money is on an early MIJ stencil set. Would love to get a close up pic of the badges if the owner still has them.

BTW, Sonic Youth is awesome... good choice.

Hi, That set in photo is a 1960s[61-64] set of drums it looks like the bass is a 20" mounted tom 12" floor tom 14" snare 14"...Its not a Norma badges are not right[Norma used another shape on the badges]...So your set is a copy of a slingerland set[check the lugs and badge slingerland copys] shells are 3 ply firewood with rings..As far as name many japanese makers used that shape of badge-about 40-50 names...mikey
