Did you ever Google "419 scam"?

There are a few sites also where the scammed people keep a copy of each email, and post it...and they F around with the scammers!

They tell them to meet them in the lobby of a hotel....and make them wait and wait!

Also, trace where the emails are coming from and put up pics of the place (internet cafe in some God forsaken place in Africa etc)

Back in the good old days of rec.musicmakers.percussion I bought a UFIP 22" ride cymbal from a guy. He said he lost the post office money order and could I send another one. When I went to cancel the first one the post office said it had been cashed. The guy was slime.

For several weeks after that he was "out of town" or something and couldn't get around to shipping the cymbal.

His email address was on some air force base back east. I wrote to the base executive officer suggesting one of his airmen was using official communications to commit mail fraud.

I got my cymbal.

I hope that guy felt the wrath of military justice.

About 6 weeks ago I got an email from some guy in NYC answering my wanted ad that's posted in the VDF classifieds for a Slingerland bass drum.

He said he had both 24 and 26 inch drums and was I still looking.

He didn't mention the forum or his user name in the text of his email. I replied and asked if he was a member here since I couldn't find his name (that he used in the email) after doing a search here. I haven't heard a word back from this guy.

Anybody else contacted?

Believe it or else!
