Thank you very much, John! Amazing!
I remember playing that song at the YMCA with my band when I was a kid. After listening to this though, I should say "trying" to play this tune.
Salty - It -is- a strange version of the tune! He's surrounded by musicians who are playing his material in that 'World Music' style and it just makes the tune sound strange and weird. You gotta love Eric though. What I'd really like to see is a reunion of Eric and as many of the original members of War as are still alive and playing. That would be one hell of a concert!

Man, you are so right. my friend! I'd love to see a band with some balls (can I say that?) for a change! I'm so sick of Justin Bieber and his little contemporaries that I almost hurl whenever I hear that brainless, shallow, contrived drivel!
They were one of the first ethnically mixed bands, along with Sly and the family stone.
And they did have some world music vibe to them,I hear some latin,Island and reggae in some of their tunes.
I had heard that the name and rights to the songs were all tied up by people who care nothing about the music, that is why the current incarnation has one? original member. It would be nice to see a tour some of the original members, but they are great tunes irregardless.
On a side note, this thread had me going to spotify to check out some War tunes,I found nothing but spill the wine.
I like the band post Burden a bit more. They were a very creative crew.
Currently there seems to be a Lonnie Smith War, with just himself as an original member, and the Original Lowriders that has Lee Oskar, Howard Scott, Howard Brown and BB Dickerson, all founding members I think.
Be cool to see them again. Most be a century since the one time I saw War.
