This arrived today - ebay purchase

I see there is a 4pt strainer on eBay right now but I really don't want to buy one from leecountry. If someone here has one and can do a little better than her/their price please let me know.

I don't know what kind of strainer is on the drum now but it's a two point attachment.

That's a Ludwig P-80 strainer....for a piccolo snare, also known as a Pioneer strainer (not the same as the Pioneer model snare drum). You'd be surprised as to what those fetch on Ebay......big $$!

Sorry, I don't have a Renown strainer for you, it took me the better part of a year to find one myself, as you may remember.

Yes - I do remember that. And I did pick one up for my Dixieland snare at a great price here.

Maybe someone would want to trade for my P-80.

I'm in no hurry for the strainer though. I can always take the strainer off the Dixieland for a while just to get this new drum set up.

I got this Marvel snare stand - I like the "button-type" feet, a nice music stand that works well and everything came in this pretty beat up case.

I like all this old stuff even if it is not valuable it's fun cleaning it up. It all goes in my grave when I die........Kidding.

Hey, I've got a case just like that, only not quite so beat up!

IF my memory serves me correctly, I bought it new in probably 1971 or 1972 at Midwestern Music in Topeka, Ks. It was a "no-name" case and was cheaper than the Ludwig case ("cheaper" was important to me at the time, being in HS). It carried my first Supra-phonic for several years, and later (and still) my Pearl Jupiter.

I took the drum apart and I didn't really notice until then that the batter is a not-so-bad calfhide. $2.50 back in the day it looks like. I may leave it as is or retuck it.

It looks like this is a "Dixieland" model. My drum is 3ply with a Copper lacquer finish. The Gretsch 54, 55 and 58 catalogs show this drum. In the 61 Catalog they have a Dixieland model but it's 6ply and they didn't offer (at least in the catalog) a copper finish.
