I never realised in all these years that roger Taylor is a total beast of a player!! Last viewed: 1 minute ago

He did play purple Tama`s but I don`t know if calling him a queen is warranted. I wasn`t too big on Duran Duran but did like a few of their tunes.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

The really good players will create their parts to complement the song, not to inflate their egos or draw attention to themselves. Roger Taylor is a class act and consummate musician in my view. I love his playing with Queen.

Queen was a group of very talented and smart individuals with a great deal of vision.

So right. Apart from Freddie's amazing voice, the whole band are great musicians. Those songs are hard to play and the classics were recorded pre-Protools copy and paste and pre autotune. Just great solid drumming on those tracks and very well thought out fills - they really make the songs come to life. Roger played Sleishman drums for a while and Don told me he is the nicest bloke too. I was only talking to my wife the other day about hearing "The Show Must Go On" on headphones - a song I hadn't heard much at all. Boy. What a set of pipes!

And Brian May is a fantastic musician as well. Extremely musical player with very well thought out parts, creative use of existing technology, built his own guitars and had a tone that stands up quite well 40 years later. For example, if I listen to "Reelin' in the Years" which is a great song with killer guitars, the guitar tone itself sounds very 70's to me. May's tone still sounds lush and fits really well with their production. Using a coin instead of a pick seemed to help. And I believe he has a degree in astrophysics in case that darn music thing didn't work out.
