WOAH ! Awesome !!!! Hopefully Bun and Mark Cooper chime in here .

I am not familiar with Roxy . Any more pics ? They look to be in great shape .

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..

I'm pretty sure those transition badged drums were 100% brass, with a welded seam. The badge was used a little over a year by Ludwig between the WFL keystone badge and the Ludwig preserial keystone badge. The lacquered brass finish is pretty rare, and I think our own Bermuda owns one of those beauties.

As far as value, with that lacquered brass finish, they do go for more than the COB pre serial Super Ludwig 400s do,but they appear so infrequently, that using E bay completed auctions as a guide, would probably be useless.

I would deffinately wait for Mark Cooper,Mike Layton,Mike Curroto ,or Bun E to chime in,or maybe PM them.Personally,IMHO,those drums are so rare, that if restored by the right guy,MAY be worth more than in it's present condition.Having said that,I'd still wait for the afore mentioned experts personal response.

BTW....I'll bet is was a great score.Yes Sir

So jealous! That is one awesomely rare snare! Would match my '58 transition kit beautifully. If only I had the funds to even buy a chrome version! You are one lucky individual...

I was real shocked that a chrome one sold on ebay in the last couple days for around 500 bucks. might have even been a tad less. they were double that not too long ago.

I saw a beat up 401 at the Chicago Show last year and it wasn't cheap. Of course, condition is everything. If the lacquer can be cleaned up and there's no major issues I'd think 1200-1500 bucks. More if "minty".

The last one on eBay, which contained Ludwig-branded strainer hardware in lieu of the original WFL hardware, sold for $2,076. That was over three years ago, and I don't think one has popped up since.
