Every time I see a goopy paint job like that on a vintage drum, it starts my wheels spinning to find out what surprise is underneath it. That's how I found my Mardi Gras kit... buried under goopy black paint. You just never know with these.

Too many great drums to list here!

Plus one, looks bastardized....

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

Looks like a vinyl fabric finish to me. Poor little drum...it was covered in sea foam naugahyde. If you went ahead and got the plastic couch slip cover to go with it (have to pick it up from Aunt martha's back in the 70's) , you could put a wicked sheen on that kick and spills would wipe right up.

You're most welcome, just send me a gratuity check at your convenience. I do HVAC and I used to use the word "do-it-yourselfers", but in some cases it needs something stronger, that's when bastardized fits the bill.

I detest seeing perfectly good drums stripped down and parted for no other reason than its a way to make a buck. I have seen some rare drums destroyed in just that fashion. A lot of them. Even breaking up sets is deplorable in my opinion, but I would rather see a big set broken up and all the pieces go to good homes than to see them end up as a pile of shells in a lighter fluid bath. And that has happened a lot. There was a seller on ebay who did just that, destroyed the shells because they were a hassle to deal with, and sold off the hardware.

I admire those who rescue drums.
