ID estate Slingerland bass drum Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Howdy, I need some help identifying my uncle's drums. He played in a polka band in the 60s & 70s and now it's my job to sell them for my aunt's estate. I read the drum identification form and frankly I'm too stupid to know what most of it means, so I've attached five pic's. I think I have the badge year range right but I sure would like confirmation.

Any feedback much appreciated. And if the five pic's aren't enough please suggest different shots and I'll take/post more. I really have no idea of the value so my first inclination is to auction them off individually on ebay.

It's a bass drum made by Slingerland drum company sometime between 1955 and 1960 (ish). Before roughly 1955 the drums would have had different lugs and after roughly 1960 (I think) the badge would read "Niles, Illinois" as they moved to a new location. The P-020 stamp simply means that the shell is intended to be wrapped in a pearl finish, which it is. Beyond that it carries no significance as nearly all wrapped Slingerland drums have the same stamp inside.

No idea what that thingamabob inside the bass drum is.

Thingamajick looks like a light of some sort.

Looking for a late 80's to early 90's, preferably Arctic White Pearl MLX 14x14 floor tom.

Thank you K.O. The dates make sense. My uncle worked on the Manhattan Project as a pattern maker in WWII, then went on to Fermilab, and retired/started a band in the mid-1960s, so I'm thinking he bought the drums used. The bass and snare seem to match but the two toms are different. The thing inside is a a fixture with three red light bulbs and there's a hole in the side for the AC cord.

Does an ebay title "Late-50s Slingerland Bass Drum" sound OK?

Light bulbs were to keep the calf drum heads tight. It looks like a converted marching bass drum, and that might make sense given the matching snare is a marching drum, as well. Looks as if your uncle cobbled together a few inexpensively acquired singles and headed out to the gig.

Might be worth putting it in the "for sale" section here first....

Cheers

looks to have spur mounts though. Could've been added later I guess

Diameter is 22" measured inside the hoop. Depth is ~13" measured from head to head.
