Yep super sensitive snare wires for sure.

They're probably for a standard SS in which the wires run past the rim about an inch on each side of the drum?

16" actually sounds short for SS wires.

Mine measure about 17 3/4" total including ends.

Actually I measured a couple of these.

Those from 60's are a little bit shorter, and from one extreme to the other is 45 cm or 17"3/4

Newer ones (70's system up today) are 46 cm (18"1/9)- just a little bit longer-

Those look like 70's or later. The 60's wires wire 12 strand and had a different style end piece. Measure them again, they should be close to 18" from end to end.

They are in fact approximately 18 1/4" end to end. Excited

p.s. The GC drum expert salesperson says I need a pinstripe snare side head and a marching kevlar batter side head with a center dot and extra weather stripping all around the edges in order for these wires to be sensitive especially when I put them on my Pearl picollo popcorn snare and is this true? Do I put a diecast hoop on the bottom and tune with a tune bot for the John Boneham sound? And what sticks sound best with these wires on the picollo? :eek:

Regarding your enquiry about heads and hoops, allow me to say:

1. I'll never be voluntarily offensive or disrespectful, but a "GC drum expert" sounds like an oxímoron to me

2. Regarding sound, tuning or "color palette", there's not just one formula... (you can see "Top Drummers" using splashes on their snares!! LOL),

BUT.... As an owner of more than10 S.Sensitives allow me to tell you, that I'll never recommend a head as a pinstripe on it.

Best combo (I.M.H.O.) is Ludwig Medium coated on top and Evans 360 hazy 300 or just a diplomat bottom snare.
