Identification OLD snare drum - Help! Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

Hi!

I'm new at this forum and I'll start right away with some pictures of my snare drum. I have no idea what this is and can't really find any similar drum or drum kit anywhere. Not even on the internet :/

I would appreciate any help i can get finding out the manufacture of this snare drum.

In one of the pictures, you can see where the badge was plased. It's a shame it's missing, but that's the condition I bought it in(about 500 US$ for complete kit with Ludwig Speed King pedal premier vintage hi-hat stand).

Maybe someone here knows the valuation of a complete drum kit in this design and age? :)

Many thanks from a Norwegian drummer band3

Welcome!

I'm sure you'll find this forum very helpful and entertaining - it's a great community!

Your snare is most likely of German make, but I do not know which. Could be Sonor, Trowa, Tromsa... Anyway, shark-tooth lugs AND sibler-schwartz wrap make it german quite safely, I suppose. I'm also guessing it's 50s/60s.

Could you post a picture of the interior?

Nice drum!!

You'll get somebody to ID this for you......only a matter of time on here.

BUT - you might want to consider re-posting this in the non-USA Drums section.

Best Blessings,

John

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

I'm pretty sure this is not a Sonor.

Possibly a Trixon.

Possibly "Trowa" Russian, I think.

Lug design looks familiar.

I think its a RKB....German drums. The finish was used by Sonor and RKB....Its called Cabana Leopard. I have a Sonor set on the exact same finish. A beauty!

Trowa wasn't Russian. It was East Germany.

This wrap had a catalogue name "M-Kristall Schwarz-Silber" and was used on Tromsa/ Sonor/ Trowa/ Amati/ Tacton drums.
