identify old premier kit Last viewed: 10 hours ago
It looks like a mid-late 60s to me. Great photo's
Most of the kit is mid-1960's Premier. The hi-hat stand and snare stand visible are from the Premier Lokfast series made in the late 60's and early l970's. Can't see the snare drum well in those photos.
A kit like yours (and mine) first appears in the 1951 catalog as a Premier "55", later in 1958 it's a Premier "54" and shows it still in production to 1963.
Love the drums and especially the photo. Can you tell us what is going on? Looks like some jamming going on in the classroom?
I think the snare was a 2001- alas long gone- the gig pic is from school playing santana and thin lizzy covers in the assembly hall- I used the kit in college and up until 1983 and kept it in various lofts and basements ever since.
my pro biog is here: http://www.carreradrums.com/CDHQ_PT261111/carlton_hunt.php
It looks as a pre-internatonal outfit "57" - with higher floor tom 16 x 20" (real head size is 16,5/16") and 12 x 8" rack tom (real size is 11,7/8").
Nice and good sounding kit.
George.
