If Andy Rooney were a percussion instrument.... Last viewed: 31 minutes ago

Hi all,

With the passing of a National Treasure like Andy Rooney, I was wondering, what instrument would you associate him with?...I'm not talking just Percussion here. I know that this is a straight forward site, but this guys passing effected even a media hating SOB like me.

I would compare him to an old, early 20th Century (real) Trap Kit...all the Bells, Whistles, Chimes, Woodblocks, Splashes, Cymbals & Drums...I think he liked being clownish & would have appreciated someone in the background doing sound effects behind his dialog.

What comes to you guys minds?

"Play the drum...don't let it play you" - Max Roach

1968, 1974 & 1984 Rogers Dyna•Sonic COB
1971, 1976 Slingerland GK Sound King
1973 Slingerland Festival
1920's-40's Slingerland (US Military) Field Snares (6)
19?- Ludwig Field Snare (US Marines)
1960's Premier Gold Glitter Student Snare kit
1960's-? MIJ Snares (way-way too many)

I like the introduction and definition of "busker" on that video. But would Andy Rooney sell faulty products to rural natives?

Andy wouldn't even stoop to selling his autograph, much less some bogus product...even though he was on a program I hated, he was worth the price of admission. The guy had a truly unique mind & was a very creative writer!

RIP Andy, you were a true American & one of the few people on the "Boob Tube" that made me think!...too bad you couldn't have made the show you worked for think in a non-partisan manner as you did. You were one of the few people who really called it as you saw it. Thank-you!

I was comparing Andy to the washboard, (in answer to the original question,) not trying to define him as a 'busker' according to Webster's definition. Just wanted to make that clear. Cooked Egg

Of course not. I just got a giggle from the intro. I could see Andy Rooney liking this type of music, or at least making a very entertaining assessment of it.

I remember when he debunked who Mrs. Smith was ( no, there wasn't a Mrs. Smith). That was quite funny!!!!

It's just weird that there won't be any Andy Rooney segments any longer....
