Why would you want to strip a near mint slingerland 57n kit just for part's?. I would understand why if the kit was trashed out and just not worth fixing. i'm certain if you did that, your crazy plan would back fire on you and realy F!#$ your wallet.

Easy there,I was just kidding. No way I would seperate these. Just kidding.I promise pics on the horizon.
I was watching that listing. Almost bid on it, but I already just purchased a couple of other snares. Good buy! The twin virgin bass drums are cool, 24" I recall. Glad to see it went to a fellow drum forumite.
I am so freekin' jealous of this one. That is one of the coolest kits in one of the coolest finishes from the best manufacturing time frame by one of the best makers. Oh dang. I am so freekin' jealous. Post pics. Please post pics.
I may be wrong ... but I'm betting that's a 79 5 ply kit in Oakwood finish. If so, ... you didn't just score. You hit the jackpot. Those Oakwood kits were few and far between. They made them for about a year in 79 and didn't shoot that many of them out, from what I've been told. I've got an uber rare 3 ply Oakwood that is far and away my favorite kit I've ever owned. The build on these late 70 Slingerland's are flat out amazing.
Double check to confirm. Mahogany in the mid to late 70's was a much darker and less grained wood for the kits. I've got an early 70's Mahogany before they went to the rougher ply. Your kit looks oh so much like my Oakwood.
forgive the double-posting ...
Just wanted to put some pics side by side of my Oakwood and your new kit. I believe these might help sway you to the possibility that you now own a Slingerland 79 5 ply Oakwood kit.
The first two pics are your kit. The next two are of my 79 3 ply Oakwood.
Gulp, . . .the two finishes look identical.I was trying to judge the color from VDGuide charts, which don't look very clear.Funny that he asked such a low price BIN plus FREE shipping? Let's hope this aint no hoax.Ya know,I just bought Purdies Rogers Mardi Gras kit too.AND his floor tom script might be a pirate logo. The pic was not defined,so I am waiting for that surprise as well. While slingys scream RnR,Rogers just sound a bit better to me.I'll bet Rogersling wants me to split the oak kit and sell him the better half?Just happy noone bought it to separate or strip. Now I gotta go work on my double bass tecnique. . .
Ha. I appreciate the sentiment, but no, I would never split a kit like that up. Besides, mine is 3 ply. The 5 ply shells that are on the way to your house would overpower and clash with mine. Hang on to it and play the snot out of it.
PS. You gotta watch out for that Purdie guy. He'll git you if you ain't watching close.
