It looks like an early Conn-era Leedy snare drum, but it could be a Ludwig & Ludwig as well....they look very similar (they should as they were made by the same people in the same factory! :D)

The remnants of the strainer are later Ludwig, definitely NOT correct for that drum.

Good luck on your resto! :D

I'll guess some kind of Ludwig, if you're REAL lucky it's a beat up Black Beauty.

Black Beauty I doubt, but I am certain it is chrome on brass, just is what they did back then. I am curious to find out whether it is the heavy type shell with the soldered edges.

Yep, I like a good project! I definitely will post about it when the time comes, but it will be a while til my shoulder/arm is capable of the work. I am not supposed to lift anything for 4-6 weeks after surgery i had 12 days ago, until the re-attached bicep tendon has time to grow into it's newly drilled home in the head of my humerus

Ben, Ok cool! hey if the white paint is original it's probably leedy, if not probably ludwig, I hope there are no extra holes from the p-83 strainer that is in the one pic hanging?
