Wasn't there a company in the 1960s Seltaeb, selling Beatles cheap merchandise on the fly..?

Seltaeb was the official licensing company of Beatles merchandise in the USA. In one of Epstein's bigger blunders he (or rather one of his associates)gave this company the rights to license Beatles stuff for a 10% share of the profits. Seltaeb kept the other 90% of the license fees which at the time was like having a permit to print money. Eventually the contract was renegotiated but by then the initial rush of Beatlemania was on the decline so the Fabs and NEMS missed out on a huge amount of cash.

That was an epic fail. The money from all the do-dads and baubbles must have amounted to a mountain of cash.

On the last Brook Mays........ Unknown. The crash/bankruptsy/takeover happened rather on a short timeline. I have seen a dozen or so kits for sale over the last 8 years. I still want one. For a perspective on the Brook Mays success with the entry level market, watch Craigslist over a period of time and see how many Rogers junk sets (as we view them) are put up for sale through out the Midwest and south. It is an amazing amount. They sold a lot of drums those first 3 years.

From what I have read Brian Epstein would sell a licensing for a flat fee without a percentage costing him and The Beatles over 50 million in lost percentage revenue. One of the biggest business bungles Epstein made.

He learned nothing from how Elvis was managed in the mid 50s. It isn't like the Beatles were the first superstar on the scene with advertising potential. Colonel Parker made Elvis. Nice to go through life with only one client.
