The drum's badge is from the late 70s / early 80s, but the butt plate and throw appear to be much newer, and the tone control isn't in the right position (at 1 o'clock with badge at 12).

I thought it could be a supersensitive, but it should have more holes and that wouldn't explain the misplaced tone control.

Is it a replica Black Beauty?

And what are those brass finger-nuts on the top tension rods? Never seen that before...

I believe those would be locks to help prevent de-tuning...

Looks like a modded out snare drum to me..The black finish looks more like a charcoal rather than the classic BB deep, glossy black finish..The throw-off is a P-86. Lugs can easily be change out..May be a custom job from Ludwig , but i doubt it..

Yeah, the badge grommet looks shady, even if it is a BB shell, I wouldn't go near it. Pork Pie makes a pretty good BB ;)

That ain't no blackbeauty, all the hardware is in the wrong place. Throw to the left of the badge muffler in random position. Biggest giveaway is the thin bearing edge lip. Look at a real black beauty from that era it will be at leads twice as wide. This appears to be an asian made shell with a random collection of hardware and a 80's ludwig badge.

My same thoughts.

Looks like there might be a seam on the shell's interior, as seen from the bottom of the drum.

I read the questions from bidders posted at the bottom of the ad; the seller states that there is no stamping, as in no stamped 'B' on the shell.

I predict that bidding will go to $500.
