International Shipping Debate Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Hey all.

I have two kits for sale and keep getting folks from Europe interested but my U P S searches always come up like $1000.

I called the U.S. postal service and they stated that one 24x24x22 box w/ approx 50lbs can go to Sweeden for $183.60 and take about 10 days. I haven't shipped a drum set but I'm assuming one huge box for bass drum w nested other drums and a slightly smaller size for the rest. Maybe a total of $400 not including insurance.

I'm shipping a standard size 5 piece with hi hat stand, pedal, snare stand, and straight cymbal.

Everyone seems to stay clear of international shipping -am I missing something??? Seems like I open up a lot more buyers to ship to Europe.baby crawl2

I don't know if you can ship a box that big..........

I use to use Pearl Export boxes,or Tama etc from music stores.....and they would come within 1" of NOT going....

24-24-22 is def bigger too.........

BUT,now there is only Priority Mail/Express overseas, maybe you CAN use a larger box.

The postal service is the only one who will ship it, but really make sure that is the correct price, the box is over sized and they will tack that fee on, and I forgot what the other fee is called, I've shipped many guitar internationally, and a bass guitar ship cost was close to your quoted rate? make sure before you commit to a yes.

www.ipsparcel.com is great. They take bids from Fedex, UPS, and DHL, and it's up to you which one to use. They cost about 30% more than USPS, but delivery is usually within a week, with no size or insurance limits, and much better tracking. USPS can take a month sometimes with no tracking updates.

Thanks,

Bill

what abut taking all the drums apart and using stuffing lay them inside each other and all skins and hoops on top like the old days but with packing

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I know with USPS different countries have different size limits (I'm not sure if that's the counties limit ot USPS set limit to that country). Some countries only take boxes no larger than the 79" total (that's pretty much a 15x15x18 box size ceiling).

Most West European countries (and many other major countries north or West of USA) have size limits of 108" length plus girth or The longest side plus two times the total length of the two shorter sides. So that would be way too large, but, on a drum set, you'd be able to tightly pack a 22" bass drum and a 16" floor tom and another smaller tom in all of that, say with a box size of 24/24/18 which comes out to 24" + 2(24+18) = 24" + 48" + 36" = 108". Look up usps.com and the shipping calculator. Priority mail for a 50 lbs box no larger than that comes to around $185.

But you better know what you're doing, otherwise if you screw up it would be a pain in the ass to deal with the buyer from overseas.
