Is my Supraphonic bent?? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

Hey all,

I bought a 1970 Supraphonic (5x14) off ebay a few months ago and only recently noticed if I set the drum down on a flat surface it wobbles.

If I flip it around and set it down on its batter side rim it lays perfectly flat.

I took the snare side rim off and it wobbles, then I put the shell down on a flat surface and it wobbles as well. Do I have a bent rim and shell?

Or is this how they're made?

Thanks.

I guess all I'm asking is for anybody that owns a supra to put it on a flat surface and let me know if it's flush to the rim all the way around.

Thanks soooo much.

I've got a pre serial# '64 and I just tried laying the snare side on my table, and on a few different flat surfaces, and to my surprise it wobbles, and a fair amount, probably more than 1/16". I turned it 90˚ to check the table was flat.

The batter side has triggers, so I didn't test it.

I just tried my RB snare - it wobbles, and about the same.

I'm surprised by this, but since all the drums sound good and tune fine I'm gathering it's not a big deal (?).

It doesn't seem right though.

You know, I just tried my own head on a table, and guess what?

It ...

I believe this one has my vote for one of the most 'loaded' thread titles for the year. I sprained my tongue when I read this one..literally. The doctor says it was caused by trying to say seventeen quips at once. Good for you.

1. No, but it does hang a bit too low.

2. Yes, but if you lean against the bar, no one will notice.

3. Why? Does it sound off key?

4. Stop blowing into the drum! You're a horn player.

5. The monkey's been in your case again, hasn't it.

.....and on and on and on and on....I can't get them out of my head! You see what you've done!!!

So I guess this is normal? Maybe it's so the snares lay closer to the head. Am I the first one to notice this????

Mine's fine. Have you removed the hoop and checked each one? Remove the hoop and test each, one at a time. That would give you the answer.
