Hey everyone. Im looking for a good cleaner for my Sonor Phonics set...I was reading about the NOVUS polish, and was wondering if someone could offer advice in whether or not it is a good idea to clean the wrap up on my kit? My wrap is very yellowed and Ive tried everything from FLITZ to bleach/water to Windex to Dawn to try to get the discoloration out...nothing. Someone? Anyone?

It's a good basic cleaner... but it won't "clean" yellowing.

One of these days, I'm going to get around to trying the "Retr0bright" method to see if it'll reduce yellowing in drum wraps.
My school district has a whole bunch of Yamaha marching drums from the '80s and '90s that they're still using. They were originally white, but a couple decades of sunlight haven't been too kind.
i used Novis 1,2,&3 on this set of drums and did wonders, i could'nt believe my eyes as i scrubed all the old grime and junk of this wrap there is still some yellowing i could'nt get of the white, but for the most most part it is some really cool stuff. here are some before and after photos.
I used Novus plastic polish 1 on the wrap of my drums and think it's great! I've never had to clean harsh yellowing though. Your drums look spectacular!
Novus is great!!! Clean all first with #1 and then use #2 or #3 to get rid of the harsh stuff. First pic is before, not real bad just cloudy and dirty. Second is the finished product.
Yellowing is not on the surface of a wrap, so no product is really gonna remove a yellowing/fade. It is, alas, the beauty of a vintage drum.
When folks see less yellowing after a cleaning, it's primarily because the cleaner has removed the layers of crap which was obscuring the wrap to begin with.
Thanks everyone for your answers...Ill pick up some and give it a try. If it doesnt work, then Ill find it to use on something else, I guess. I did spend about 50 hours total cleaning the nasties off of it, I guess I was just hoping that some more of the yellowing would have come off with cleaning....oh well. Thanks again, everyone! I really appreciate all the help I get from everyone on this forum.

Refering to most V.D.F. members, novus looks to be just the right cleaner for vintage wrap.
Unfortunatly, we dont have this product here in our stores...
last week i finnaly made the move, and ordered 1 gallon of each steps from a seller on fleebay,
yes, 3 gallons, no less, for a total cost of 104,50 C.D.
Hope i'll have enough of this stuff to do all my drums for now, and and for years to come.
I find that Novus actually does take out yellowing A LITTLE.
I just use No.1 and 2 also.......
First time I used NO.3,it was on a BDP Rogers snare, and all it did was smear around, and I was pizzed!
