Is Puresound the Only Snare Wire For Clamshell Strainer? Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Loading...

Cool idea! But, and I am far from knowledgeable, isn't the Clamshell a 15 3/8" long wire and the regular wires are something less that 14"? So far, in my limited experience, all the wires for my "normal" 14" snares come up short of the bed by about 1/2" on each side. I did find other good wires - Canopus, Noble & Cooley - both manufacturers of vintage wires. Unfortunately, their wires are made only for snares requiring standard 14" wires.

Or, is there another snare wire made that is long like the clamshell wires? It would seem to me, that there were quite a number of Slingerland snares using clamshell strainers going all the way back to the Radio Kings of the '40's.

Thanks Mikey!

i have a dog tag badge radio king and i've got puresounds on it, and it sounds amazing. in fact, it might be my favourite snare. it's certainly been my go to for the last while since i got it. get the puresounds.

i know that you can force open a set of pearl wires as well. i had a guy do that for me when i got it, cuz that's what he had, but the puresounds sound way better. you won't be disappointed.
