Just picked this up off of Ebay for a good price. I was assuming it was a 4-ply (?) shell. It has a black cortex wrap, small classic lugs and the granitone interior. No re-rings. It also has the Blue/Olive badge. Don't have the serial number handy. So did a buy a Ludwig Rocker or Rocker II? If so I am a bit disappointed.
Is this a Ludwig Rocker or not? Last viewed: 2 hours ago
You have a Ludwig Classic series tom. Ludwig did use a granitone interior for a short time. Don't recall exactly when, though. Also, the Rocker series used the Black/White badge.
Thank you!

You did good. That's a nice classic tom. Top of the line when it was made.
Check the serial # and use the guide on here to give you a date. It also may have had a clip mount from the 4 hole configuration.
Thanks guys. I thought I was getting a Ludwig Classic, especially since it had the B/O badge, but after reading about the use of the granitone paint I got to wondering if this was really a classic or maybe a Rocker with a B/O badge in place of the original. There are no re-rings and the Granitone is more of a dull tan color vs. the grey color. Maybe it was grey but just aged somewhat? I only paid $66 for it so it didn't set me back much.
At one point the rockers and classics had the same shell, although I thought uni mold shells on the classic and super classic had clear ints, and at some point 12" classic/superclassic toms used the small classic lugs.
Either way, with the small classic lugs and B/O I would consider the drum a classic .
