It says 1969, but didn't holiday become powerton in 70? Or sometime in 69?

Also- the rack tom is a 14x10- was '69 the first year they made that exact size?

i was always under the impression that clear coated Rogers drums had a one peice vanier outside ply. i have seen 16x16 floortoms always had one single peice of wood all the way around the drum with the seem in same place as a wrap. underneath the wrapped drums you will see where the wood has been butted up against another. around the shell. sometimes 2 or 3 peices to get from the bottom to the top. but clear laquar drums were all one peice ply,s. and holiday i think ended in around 69 -70.

for one his price is stupid high... for two it looks like a kit that was unwrapped and refinished i have not seen shells like previously mentioned have different plies showing.... the floor tom leg brackets are the old machined style and those drums that I have owned and seen were holiday. there were many kits that were both holiday and powertone ,powertone became the holiday lineand the floortom leg brackets were the new style one piece cast not machined.

Some of the collets I can see on this kit are cast which should be powertone...

But regardless his price is wishfull thinking

Anyone who has removed a Rogers wrap will recognize this outer ply as a stripped shell. Many, many drummers in the '70s stripped off the wrap and refinished the bare shells, so this is not uncommon to see on a 1969 set (dating guides put this Dayton serial number at 1969).

FULLERTON, yes, not Dayton! You're right. Serves me right for jumping the gun without using the zoom feature to read the fine print on the label!

Also, as stated previously, these have been stripped and clearcoated.

that 24" appears to be an original single tom drum. The sizes, 24-14-18, are not the norm either. Those sizes, from that era, as a single tom rig, are worth having. Comes with snare and some stands also. These would be nice rewrapped in red glass etc.

But not for $4500!

$1500, maybe...

So the powertone snare had been around awhile but the holiday kicks and toms switched to powertone in 69. So my holidays are real early fullertons. I dunno if theyre mismatched or not but my kick is a holiday dayton as well as the snare a dayton powerton//
