This is a first generation Rogers..
Check out the bridge...there appears to be two cutouts on the right
hand side. I have never seen anything like this before

kenshireen!
Actually, it is correct! Oh, but before that: It's a snare FRAME, not a bridge. I know a lot of guys refer to it as a "bridge", so you are not alone!, but in actuality, it's a snare frame. Course you can call it whatever you want!, but I thought you might like to know what Rogers refers to it as. Anyway!...
YES! FIRST generation snare frames had those cut outs in them. As to WHY, I haven't a clue... and we can't ask Joe Thompson as he is no longer with us. I wish we could though!

I just took a peek....
I like,...but can't afford..lol
Living in Canada, has some perks,..I.e. No guns, health care...
But the 30% on the exchange Hurts..lolol
When you see a cutaway in a casting that doesn't appear to have a function, it is often related to the means of extracting it from the mold. It's absence later on could mean they developed other means to accomplish the task.
Sometimes it is a means to lighten a casting, but I wouldn't expect that to have been the case with this relatively light component of the Dynanonic snare drum.
If there are those experienced in foundry work or machinists among us, perhaps they can comment.
It also has two screws at the butt end. The next era frame had two posts and one screw at the butt end. and on, and on.
The Dyna-Sonic is like the most amazing thing.
One beautiful snare but requires a bank loan to own it.as Ploughman has said, they truly are an amazing snare drum...
