Hi,
I have a J. G. Richards drum that I'd like to get more information on, specifically, which drum manufacturer might have built it.
Please see the pics.
Apologies for the upside-down images.
Any and all help is appreciated.
Thank you.

Wow, never seen one like that before. Looks more like some parts out of a tractor, rather than a snare drum!
Also never heard of J.G Richards. US? UK?
Hi Adam,
here's an excerpt of what I have found on another forum and help from an ebayer who owned two of them:
. . . The J.G. Richards Co was a music house that sold drums etc., with their name badges on the drums. The drums could be a number of names that sold the drums to them your drum could be a Leedy, Conn, Stone, Ludwig, etc., etc...
I believe the tension rods are pre-standard 12-24 thread
trying to identify and see if it's worth special ordering heads and keeping it.

I just looked at a 1911, 3 x 15-1/2 inch Duplex, 20 Lug snare.
Not fond of the early placement of the strainer on the rim, but the Lug hardware is nearly identical.
Picture of Duplex for reference.
Tension rod is 24 tpi and slightly narrower than the standard 12-24?, but threads on with a bit of freeplay.
Anyone have any adds?
Thank you.

Fascinating. I have heard of music houses putting their own badges on instruments before, so that makes sense. I'd love to hear how that one sounds though. Are you going to set it up to play or display? Either way, some more pics please! :D
I would set it up to play, but I need 14-1/4 heads to fit nicely.
Oversize heads are difficult to come by naturally.
The snare wires are easy.
Not sure that I want to invest.
