James Black is legend of drumming, if you still dont know who is it check this out: http://www.drummerworld.com/drummers/James_Black.html
Any ideas about his late 60's - early 70's setup? On what drums he played on recordings?

Some of my favorites are New Orleans drummers. I particularly like Eddie Christmas and Raymond Weber. Thanks for bringing James Black to light.
Oh look-out... you hit my sweet-spot by bringing up Nee-awlins drummers! I just want to add Johnny Vidocovich to the names mentioned. You can cop more second-line magic from listening to Johnny play for 10 minutes, than you could from 6 mos. of listening to somebody else. Great drummers all. My 'next-generation' favorite is Stanton Moore... carrying on the tradition.
Can't tell you how much I enjoy playing second-line beats and rhythms. It's just great sounding, fun stuff to play.
Call me; Johnny Chapatoula :p
So HE's the Hook & Sling guy! Thanks for sharing this. Breakbeats like this forged the music of today!
Great stuff. Never heard of him, but I'm glad I've heard of him now. He's definitely got it.
