Jazzfests have 8 bowtie lugs...'65 certainly would have had the p-83...5 x 14 3-ply shell...without a picture, it sure sounds like you have a Jazzfest!

I think it has a 14x 5 1/2 shell? Is that normal? That was with the hoops off..

Yeah...could be. My 1964 Pioneer is a 5.5" shell, too. I think that was probably the size of most of them.

Jazzfests do indeed have a 5.5 inch shell. Of course the eight lugs, p-83 and a ball bat muffler(if later than 1962-3). An interesting note is that the muffler was moved sometime in 64-65. Ringo's '63 jazzfest has the BB muffler one panel away from the badge. The later versions have a panel between the badge and the muffler.

What color is yours? Another interesting thing to note is that they switched the color of the muffler from red to white sometime in 1965. The ink on the dtae stamp also went from red to black around then as well. Sounds like a nice drum.
