KapperDog-----did you ever ask Buz about the difficulty you were having with the sound of the kick? and what heads he felt would optimize it? I may have gone about as far as I can go with mine but I will try deerskin. I can even get bear or moose which are very thick----maybe too thick.; for others reading this the kick in the King kit is 14x12! and still sounds like a bass drum.

I never asked him about it but I use the heads that the set came with. I have switched different heads around a few times with no noticeable difference.

I have simply conceded that there's only so much punch that's going to come from a 14" kick. LOL
