I think I just wet 'em.
300 U.S. dollars for '60s Rogers drums, hardware, and cymbals? Wow. You just absolutely fleeced someone!
As your obviously aware by now, those old Rogers "Bread & Butter" lugs are prone to cracking. I know there are some more durable reproductions out there like the ones from jp2creations.com, but they're pretty pricey. Once they pick their jaws up off the floor, one of the Rogers gurus around here can help you figure out what your options are.
WOW! What a find!
So jealous! :)
If no cracks or keyholes in the cymbals those are worth about 300.00.Looks like you have a swivo mount for the snare, and it looks like you have the correct arm coming off the bass drum for it,did you get the swivo mounting arms for the mounted tom?You can always mount the tom on a snare stand. There are different schools of thought/and finance on what to do about the cracked lugs, from using the high quality repros(expensive)finding originals (less $ ) but will eventually fail,to using ludwig mini classic lugs on the toms. The B+B lugs were used when calfskin heads were still being used, the lugs don't hold up as well with the higher tension used with plastic heads, there are modern versions of calf heads ,maybe they would work on less tension but I have no practical experience with those. There is a serial# guide at the rogers owners forum for dating your drums. They are somewhere between 1957 and 1962 because of the swivomatic hardware and B+B lugs. From you pics it looks like you have a 14 " floor tom ,if so that is worth more than you paid for the kit,the most common 4 pc set up was 14" snare 20" kick 12" mounted tom and 16 " floor tom.The mounted tom and floor are very close in diameter, and a 13 + 16 from this era would be pretty unusual.Nice kit,and welcome to the forum.
Nice drums. Bread and Butter lugs, early 60s Rogers Cleveland era drums. Plus the cymbals look really nice especially the large (22"?) ride cymbal. That has hammering marks on it and with that larger bell it has the look of a no later than 50s model Avedis Zildjian ride cymbal.
Great deal for you, and those are ideal for a guitarist getting back into the drums, because any time you want to jam and bring a drummer friend over, They should be happy playing them. True about the BnB lugs, they were very thin casings and that's why Rogers replaced them with the Beavertail lugs, because if you tweak them too much, they will form cracks and even break. Otherwise that is a great era for Rogers. The hoops have really high rims on them compared to later Rogers and same era other brand drums. They're chrome over brass. Nice! Play 'em like you mean it!
hey guys thanks for the responses and warm welcome.the drum sizes are 20" bass 14 x 6" Snare 12 x 9 Tom 14 x 14 Tom i really am a drum newb and will bother the hell out of you im setting them up for the first time think im doing something wrong and cannot find pics of my kit online any where (with the snare swivomatic. There are two different length hex rods one is much longer than the other is it for the snare or tom. also does the pivoting part face upwards or downwards. i could really use some help on setting these up correctly. lol i can fix any part of a rhodes but cant set up a drum set (facepalm)
....we hate you....
JK. Have you searched through the pix in the gallery to see if there are any in there? I sure there will be at least one correct kit in there. The shorter arm with the ball on the bottom rod should be the right one for the snare (the rod that has the ball end is the one that goes into the bass collet). It should sit about midship the bass and point directly back.

You stumbled upon a very valuable set. 14" floor tom! Awesome. I had a Holiday set with a 14" floor tom in silver sparkle but it was soon sold to a local drummer, who interestingly did not play with a rack tom, he just bought the 20" and 14" from me and I sold the 12". It had Beavertail lugs though. Not a fan of the older Bread and Butter lugs, but for $300 one could be very forgiving. I love the vivid Blue sparkle. Happy drumming!
