Just bought my first Ludwig Sky Blue Pearl kit Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Not a great score at all as I paid $850 including shipping . .. . but, I love these early 70's Ludwig shells. Four piece with matching serial numbers all in the 893,xxx range. 14x22, 8x12, 9x13 and 16x16. The only bummer is that the bass drum has faded more than the rest of the kit and their some light rust on the rims. All in all though, I cannot wait to get these cleaned up and played.Walking

Congrats! No I think you did good, especially with the matched numbers. So the family in still intact. Welcome to the SBP Club!

Cool. Didn't you just get a Rogers set too? If I've got this right, you are on a roll and it is probably at least a two-stroke roll.

Love the kit great score

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Thanks guys. I ended up paying a little more because the original shipping quote was off so I am right under $900. Still, I plan to keep them for awhile and at least know that I won't lose when I go to sell them. I just can't wait to hear them. There is something about this time frame of Ludwig shells that I love. It is almost as though this sound is my "home base" sound. Every other kit I hear is either left or this sound or right of this sound. I do not know if that even makes sense. I have an early 70's Acrolite that will go perfect with this kit.

Drooool. I loved my 1976 SBP Luddies. I would still have them if it wasn't completely un-gigable at 13,14,16,18,24.

1964 Ludwig Downbeat Black Diamond Pearl (12,13,14,16,20)
1976 Ludwig Stainless Steel "Bop" (12,14,18)
1998 Ayotte "Ray Era" Wood Hoop Copper Sparkle (10,12,14,16,20)
