Just out of curiosity... Last viewed: 50 minutes ago

I don't know if there has been a thread like this before or not... but I sometimes wonder where the "user" names come from.

So, I'm not too shy to start.

Mine is "billnvick." The "bill" is me, the "vick" is my wife of nearly 36 years. Her name is Vicky, but me and some family members and a few close friends just call her "Vick."

We started using that handle back in the late 90s when we first signed up with eBay, and just found it easy to use it for other purposes as well.

From time to time, if you check out our eBay auctions you'll find stuff (mostly collectibles) that she sells as well as my drum and Star Wars and Star Trek stuff...

I took my name from the remake of “Wizard of Oz” with Zoey Deschannel. Their “Tinman” was called so because he was a law enforcement officer and wore a tin star.

I was a Deputy Sheriff for several years, so I was also a “Tinman”.

The 'Purdie Shuffle' is simply one of my favorite drum grooves to mess around with. Purdie can play! It's my little tribute to him.

Mine was just the first half of my email address, I did it because I was only going to ask one question real quick and move on. I had know idea I would become obsessed with old drums and get to know so many members. I have made some great friends here and Bill you were one of the first ones, remember the Oyster Red Pearl Presidents?

Thanks to all of you nice people for all of the advice over the years. I hope I was able to pay back some of that advice with my responses to your threads.

Thank you!
