As almost everyone knows what I collect/hoard here....I know you are saying....WHAT is Nevin doing with a Slingerland kit! Well, just like everything, I couldn't pass it up and will be passing it on (once I know what exactly it is). This is what I know, thanks to the VDG, and VDF! It has serials in the 335xxx to the 351xxx range COW 5 ply, 24,13,14,18 with COB snare, all with the silver and black Niles badges. I am guessing 1978?? It came with 3 cases, so I knew it was half way taken care of. Not sure of the interest in this kit, but would sure like for some Slingy guru's to get with me on what to look for! Thanks again guys!

Will try to load a few pictures, but wont be set up....wife says NO pictures in the house until they are polished...better listen to her, it IS by the way Christmas Eve.

P.S. Wife is fantastic ( she reads this too) :)

Can only load one right now. Also got with the kit, a yellow jacket pedal, set of A's, and a Ludwig throne. The rest of the hardware I received I assume is original with the kit.

Merry Christmas to you and yours Jeff!

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Nice looking kit,

I'd say it would be a Time Machine kit from around 1979. The placement of the Setomatic BD mount was moved to the more forward position around then. The earlier Super Rock kit had the mount just slightly forward of the rear lugs..

Cheers

Was also thinking the same longjohn, however the snare is a 5x14, 3 line brass as well as the tom post is the same as the catalog 1978. Perhaps it was in a transition period?

Here is a few pictures of the ride toms as I start the cleaning/polish process.

Thanks again,

Nevin

Maybe.. The Setomatic position on the BD started to be moved more forward when the Super Setomatic came on to the scene, after 77-78 they appear generally in the forward position but even then they vary..

Prior to that it was Badge/grommet to the front and The Setomatic post mount, back towards the drivers seat.

(Chrome on your kit is looking good)..

Cheers

Super nice but for me playing an 18 inch floor Tom is like playing your bass drum with sticks ... just soo big. Anyway let's hear it for wives who "get it" :)
