Kick Drum Movement Last viewed: 13 minutes ago

Loading...

Recently completed refurb of a 1960's Roger Holiday Kit. My kick is a 22 and I am having some issues with it setting correctly on the floor.

Maybe its the pedal I'm using but I can't see to get it setting completely still while playing. Maybe I'm just used to playing modern era drums?

Anyone else relate to this or have a solution or tip?

Thanks

Scott

You can get a drum rug that has an elevation in front of the bass drum, or simply just Mcgyver one of your own, put a brick under a rug. You can also try a drum anchor or velcro under the bass pedal. It's a fairly common problem, I used to tell our bass player to sit on the bass drum. Good luck!

Make sure the front BD hoop is off the ground a bit,use the points on the spurs, put a clip on set of spurs on the front hoop ala Ringo, carpet etc..

I have had the same problem and it was the pedal I was using. I adjusted everything and it would still rock. Try a different Pedal, that eliminated the rocking for me. The pedal I was having trouble with, when tightened to the hoop, would raise the heel of the foot-board. It only did this on one of my Bass Drums, it worked fine on the others. Good Luck, D' Drummer

Too many great drums to list here!

Take it a step further. That bass drum is telling you that it wants to be beaten with a Swivomatic pedal.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

I don't have a vintage pedal currently. What modern pedals work best on vintage drums?

I bought a new 80 dollar Sound Percussion double kick pedal and it is about 20 times better than the Slingerland vintage pedal I had. I don't believe ANY vintage pedal can measure up to today's materials and technology and wouldn't waste a dime on any vintage piece of hardware. The vintage vibe stops at the shells for me.

have a wonderful evening
