Has anyone ever tried or does anyone own a kickport? Been thinking about ordering one to try out and wanted to see if anybody had some feedback.
thanks!

I've been using one for about a year now on a 22" Ludwig vistalite kick. It eliminated the need for any muffling inside the drum. Drum sounds the same when miked. I have not gotten any comments good or bad from anyone else in the band.
I've been testing one on my 24". The Reso head was given to me and I don't plan to keep it much longer so I was not opposed to slicing a hole in it.
I plan to exchange batter and reso soon and I hope to hear something better.
Back to the Kickport. Before, the sound was quite dull and soft even for SS but this might be due to the heads I have. After installing it, the sound has more impact & cleaner and definitely louder if that makes any sense to you.
I dunno, the jury is still out for me.
First off, sorry for my delay of response. Haven't been around the site in awhile. Work work work, you know...
Anyways, thanks for the feedback. I think I'll give it a shot. Gerald, I also play a ludwig vistalite kit, hoping I will hear an improvement. Not that my kick sounds bad at all, but why not give something new a shot that might make it sound even better right?
Usually I have little to no muffling. Sometimes a small towel or a strip of felt. If I could gain anything from this, I would like more of a low end resonance with a more focused sound. Some more volume would be a plus too.
All in all, I think it'll be worth the 40$ investment to at least give it a shot.
I have contemplated it a few times, but here in Aus the Kickport is way too much. Something in the $100+ region. That's a big gamble...
