Hi
Got some more pics of the snare drum. As you can see before i started to restore the drum it looked like it had a layer of grey paint it was just oxidisation and dirt from yrs of being stored.
Thanks
sean
That is far all-the-way out !!!
What year, do you think ?
Hi Kevin,
The year is unknown I am trying to find that out. But I reckon around about 1908 to 1914. I recently read that a Kitchen & Co made Amps for Marshall in the 1960's but not sure if it is the same company. In the next couple of days I will be posting a pic of the restored drum, in it's former glory as it would have been left by the soldier who died in the 1st World War.
Thanks for looking & messaging
Sean
I'm a sucker for the turn of the century survivors....I have a Lyon & Healy from that era.....my second....I foolishly sold my first one.
Your Lyon & Healy looks absolutely fab, i have recently just picked up a 1972 royal star drum kit pre tama looks and sounds top class.
What size is it ? 4x16"
Hi
The shell is 14.5" x 3.5". The actual drum heads are original once cleaned up is gonna look top class. I am actually trying to find out more about Kitchen & Co.
Thanks
sean

Thanks for the info, i also found out that from the census of 1911 in leeds a Mr Robert Snowden Kitchen had a shop selling and repairing musical instruments. There was a shop in leeds called Kitchens music shop. The drum is a real mystery. Im wondering if all the kitchen branches are connected.

This is from the marshall book, page #87 in about 1966 Kitchen were a chain of music shops around North of England. Who approached either Jim Marshall or Rose Morris for their own special run of amps
