I happened into a small music store outside of L.A. today, and lo and behold, they had all these vintage drums! They were laid out in such a way that it was tough to see everything, but I saw a Ludwig Black Beauty, a Leedy Black Elite, Gretsch, SlingerLeedy and Camco wood snares, lots of acros and supras, a bunch of Speed Kings, possibly an old Radio King kit, it was wild. I got the sense they would charge the whole earth to part with any of it, but still, it was pretty cool.

I don't recall, I could probably find it again the next time I'm out that way. I think they even had a wood dyna, pretty sure I'll go back some time.

Outside of L.A. Is a wide spectrum, but if they had all that vintage stuff like you say, it could be an eBay seller who goes by Amade 183, they have a "store" or building close to L.A. With a lot of vintage stuff
I did some searching and found out it's called Bellflower Music. They don't have even 1% of their stock pictured on their website. I'm happy to stop by and purchase/ship out items for members here. It would be fun to have some of those items in my hands even for an hour!

been there a few times and they seem to deal with schools and sell mostly accessories. there's alot of used stuff from amps to fog machines to drums. not alot of new stock.
i talked to the owner about buying some of of the older drums stuff, and she said most was her personal collection, but would sell at the right price. i even had the clerks call her because she leaves early and they can't give prices on the drum stuff.
unfortunately the "right price" is really high, even for beater acros and japan snares. there's a 20's/30's black beauty hanging on the wall, a 3 pc 70's ludwig with a 26", most of the stuff are beaters/players drums that's over priced.
there's bits and pieces of hdwr and drum junk that most people wouldn't care about, but i tried to do a bulk sale and she said no. so that means stuff has been sitting there that long.
i also asked about buying a bucket of mostly used lugs (stuff that was stripped off old drums and were mostly beat up) which earlier she said she would sell, but when i asked for a price she said they're not for sale.
i even tried to sell her new/old stock product from a store i used to work at, that any store owner would of jumped on. a bulk sale priced way below cost, and she wasn't interested. so i sent to another store a few miles away and sold the whole lot.
i hate to sound like a teen girl, but...whatever. had to walk away. she's not a seller.
The majority of our vintage stock is not for sale.
There's a used car lot in my home town. Guy always has a late '60s, early '70s F-150 sitting where you can see it from the road. This is a small lot full of mostly crap cars that you DON'T want. It's grass, not concrete.
I pulled in there once to inquire about the F-150. He said, "Oh, that thing? That belonged to me dad. It's not for sale." Then he tried to sell me some ****bird car over time at an interest rate that would double the price of the car.
No, thanks, dude. See ya.
Twelve years later, that F-150 is still peeking out of the back of his lot. I bet he gets a lot of "Hey, about that old Ford...?" and sells a lot of significantly less worthwhile cars when people are already out of their cars on his grass.
I do believe that's what we're looking at here. Nothing good is for sale, but if you need a Sunlite kit.....
