once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Thanks for all the compliments! They are greatly appreciated!

From Purdie Shuffle

Lynn - That is a spectacular -CLASSIC- set of drums. I'll bet they sound every bit as good as they look. If I'm ever in your neck of the woods, I want to play those! I'd love to hear them from the driver's seat.Niiiiiiice!John

Thanks, John! They do sound great! If you're ever in my neck of the woods, you are more than welcome to play on them. Can I sit in the driver's seat of your Gretsch kit if I'm ever in your neck of the woods? ;)

From ElMoonlightDrummer

Sweet kit, Lynn! I dig the period-correct hardware, too! For me, it doesn't get better than a rail consolette with a spade/diamond plate tom mount. That's what on my '58 Luddys and I dig that look!

Thank you, sir! I agree...rail consolette/diamond plate is so cool! And your '58 Luddy kit is SO cool!

From blairndrums

Where did you find that nice BD logo?

I got it made at a local print shop. Cost me $19 and some change, but they put it on the head for me. I tried to help and it was NOT easy, or fun, trying to get it to stick on a coated head. So, it was well worth it to me. Someone on feeBay has them for $10, which would be good if you're putting it on a smooth head.

Cheers folks!

Lynn

That is a seriously nice WMP kit. I love the 'feel' of it. Just a slick old school dark wood magic.

The American Vintage heads are a single ply coated head (with a yellow-brown tint) that have a slightly larger collar to slip over vintage shells more easily. I've never tried Attack heads, so I can't say how they would compare. But, I have Remo Emperors on my Ludwig kit and that kit sounds real low and punchy...and kinda dry. The Slingerland kit is a little higher-pitched, but not much, and more resonant. I am not using the mufflers, or any other muffling, on the toms of either kit.

The only difference on these two kits is that the Ludwigs have the white interiors and the Slingerland shells don't, both are mahogany-poplar-mahogany.

I hope that gives you somewhat of an idea.

That's not a drum kit you've got there. It's a true work of art!Clapping Happy2 Your kit just "screams" class. I also love the way you set up your "non-tilted" cymbals. It reminds me of a certain drummer who's name happens to escape me right now (lol). Great job! THANKS for sharing the pics as well as the story.
