Late 60 pearl tom mount Last viewed: 1 day ago

I bought this on eBay months ago but never tried it on the kit until yesterday (the drums were in storage by the time the tom mount arrived). The hex-shaped rod is too big for the Pearl tom and bass mounts. So...........either it is not a late 60's Pearl tom hanger as advertised on the eBay auction when I bought it or Pearl changed the diameter (made it smaller) in 1969....when my drums were made.

The mount is no good to me so if anyone here needs one like this message me. It's sturdy and there's a key that came with it but I think any drum key would fit. I will measure the diameter tonight and post it here.

yeah Gary, that's a later model from the 70s. I'm assuming the one in the center of this 1969 catalog photo is what you need. This one is from the 1970 catalog so I guess it's possible it first showed up in '69

WOW - how weird. I had one of those with the same size shafts - sold it to a forum member who was looking for one. When he got it he discovered that mine was the wrong one - he needed the one with the bigger bottom shaft (yours!). He ended up buying the right sized one elsewhere. He either kept the one I sold him or sold it off.

Those are GREAT mounts. The one you have there is more rare and hard to find. Someone will be blessed to find it.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Thinner ones are 60's. Those are in the catalogs up until 71-72. Thicker are 70s. The first catalog I've seen those in is 1973. I'm not contradicting Fayray's info on 1970 because Pearl is weird like that. Sometimes it is hard to tell what and when and their catalogs conflict! Thick ones ran up to about 78 when they changed to tubular mounts. The thin are 9.5mm- 10mm? And the larger are 15mm.

I just grabbed a mount and put it up against the other for the pic. There is an optical illusion going on with the upper end, but the thickness is consistent. There were single long thin mounts, too. The double with short shafts was just the first one I grabbed.

Thanks for that. I did not know this mount came in two different thicknesses.

I don't have it anymore - buyer never returned it. he kept it or sold it in another direction.

I can try to find his username and you can PM him.
