Late 60s Rogers R-380 snare Last viewed: 3 hours ago

This is a COS R-380 snare. Featuring Rogers' Bantam strainer, it (the lugs at least) was designed by Joe Thompson. Meanwhile, it was made in Japan, outsourced to Yamaha. Yamaha had just started to manufacture drums. It even has a small "Made in Japan" sticker on the shell - side of the edge. There has been speculation that the shell was supplied by Rogers, as it is so similar to other Rogers snare shells. Further speculation questions the origin of the lugs, which are very thick and solid, and confirmed to be designed by Rogers.

Usually sold for the neighborhood of $100 (sometimes less), it is considered by some to be the poor man's Rogers snare. It certainly sounds like a quality Rogers snare, and as you can see, it has Rogers beauty.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

The Rogers 380 from this time period is really not bad quality. I have been refinishing a 380 kit from this period and was really surprised at the quality versus other MIJ drums from this period I have come across. And the wraps are really cool looking!
