So I got one of these Leedy bass drum pedals with the 1960's kit I picked up. I planned to keep the pedal, but it has the worst action I've ever felt. Not sure if it's the spring, or if that is just how they were. Any ideas?

Cool pedal !
What is wrong with the action? On my Slingerland single spring pedals. If slow the top post pivots need to be cleaned. Sloppy, spring could be worn out. Doesn't seem to be much wear on the foot board so a good clean should bring it back.
Early pedals are great fun, but they are nowhere close to a Speed King or anything else that came later.
Hope of some help.

Well, I had a Slingy pedal with a similar spring arrangement and it was a real dog. Very slow return compared to other designs.
Restore it and display it.
They are great to look at.
Pedals have gotten so much better since that time.
But,...... restore, clean, lube and try it on the kit.

I have this Leedy BDP.

That there is an oldie! I think I'll give mine a cleaning and see if it performs better. Could just be gunked up from the years of non use.
