Leedy Drums and Accessories Last viewed: 22 hours ago

Hello everyone,

First time poster here!

So I work at a music shop and had some customers come in to try and sell these vintage drums. I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right section, but if I could maybe get some more information on what they had, that would be awesome. We unfortunately couldn't buy any of the stuff in, but this was the first time I have ever come across vintage drum gear and I was so facscinated by what they had brought in. The owner said it was his grandpa's equipment which he purchased when he was 15 in the 1920s. Not sure how reliable that information might've been, but that is what I was told. I've included some pictures that I managed to take. Sorry for the lack of pictures of each individual piece of gear, but if you have any questions, just let me know and hopefully I'll be able to answer it. Everything had leedy branding, except the cymbals. Thank you guys!

I tried uploading the pictures through the website but kept getting an error, so I uploaded them to an imgur album. Here's the link: http://imgur.com/a/08jC9

Are you out of your frickin mind letting that go ?

I`ve never seen that Avedis Stamp before. And the smaller cymbals should mounted on the batter head hoop so you can hit them with the pedal extension, or you could put them on the low boy if that was invented yet.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

I know I know, I couldn't stand to see it go. I knew we had something special in our store. Let's just say it ultimately was not up to me or my store on whether we were able to buy this equipment in.

Edit: Sorry, forgot to reply to the rest of your comment. If I'm not mistaken, the low boy is the attachment to put the cymbal on the bass drum, right? Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but they did have a Leedy low boy attachment if that's what it is. It just had a stripped screw so it couldn't mount onto the bass drum.

The cymbal is attached to the BD hoop inverted and struck by an attachment that fits the beater shaft. Kinda looks like a doorstop.

This is how the cymbal is attached, note the beater shaft attachment.

Wow! That is fantastic!

You should've bought them yourself! What a bummer, having those walk out the door...

You didn't make a huge blunder by not buying, unless of course you wanted to keep it. The real gem is the set of temple blocks. The bass and snare are pretty common lower end models that usually sell for a few hundred dollars. The higher end Professional models or Elites of that era are real prizes.
