When did Slingerland begin using badges on Leedy tom-toms? It seems snare drums and bass drums had them well into the 60's, but sets stamped as late as 1966 show only those two drums having the badges. A second question is, in what year did Slingerland drop production of Leedy drums? From what I can see, late 1966 or 1967 may have been the only ones with badges on all the drums and it came close to the end of their production.

SlingerLeedy: According to DrCJ Wenk badges were used on toms thru 1960. From '61- mid '66 NO badges were used on toms. Mid '66 and up badges were again used on toms. The end of Leedy production may be later than commonly stated.
The end of production of the drums and the cessation of sales of the drums probably did not occur at the same time. There were probably build out kits for individual drums and left over inventory that got assembled and sold after production ceased.
An interesting point about the beginning of the Slingerland/Leedy era that I have observed: Some of the tom shells have the traditional Leedy thirty degree bearing edges. They must have been around for awhile as the '62 kit pictured below features them and not the typical round-over Slingerland of the period.

That is very interesting. That explains why I seem to see badges at times and none at other times.
Also interesting is orangemi's comment about the bearing edges. I've not been aware of that.
