Hey everyone,

I'm new to the forum, having just registered. I'm and old guy at 52 years old and have been a drummer since I was 13. Started playing in grade school, and had to learn how to play one of those plastic clarinet looking recorder things, can't remember the name of the silly things now, but soon got to play snare. You had to buy in those days and I remember my parents wouldn't spring for the Ludwig Supraphonic, so I got an Acrolite..but hey it was a great drum. Played all the way through high school, being in the marching band, concert band and jazz band. Went to all-district and all that stuff. I also was in the band director's dance band playing various gigs, from the venerable Moose Club the country club scene and all that. I also had a rock band which played high school proms and other shows. My set, again my parents wouldn't spring for the Ludwig Super Classic Hollywood, so I got the Ludwig Standard set...and had it until it was stolen in college along with my Zildjian and Paiste collection. Anyway, I didn't play much in college but after college I was in a band that played frat parties, clubs and was the house band at a club in Blacksburg Virginia for the Viriginia Tech in crowd for a couple of years. I have been involved in various recording projects at Bradley's Barn in Nashville and was actively playing until about 10 years ago, then I layed the sticks down and left my Tama set at a local recording studio where it remains. I need to go get it. I don't even remember all the cymbals I have (yeah I do)...but about 4 months ago I saw a set of drums sitting out in the weather at an aprtment near a friend's house. I asked him if he could find out waht the owner needed to have for them and picked them up for $50.00 They are a set of Yamaha DP drums which were not in the greatest shape. They also had a set of cymbls with them Mostly cracked A Zildjians and one ZBT. What a piece of junk. ..in the last couple of months I have bought several sets of vintage Ludwigs and am in the process of rewrapping them and the Yamies...and have started playing a little in the garage...I've also been OCD about cymbals..Saluda, Wuhan (had never heard of either til now) Istanbul Mehmet, Istanbul pre-splits, Paiste 404, 505, Protoypes BIG vintage Zildjian A's in 22 and 24 inch sizes...Now I want a K. Zildjian Istanbul ride--crash..I'm on the hunt..Why??? Hell, I don't know..I've gone nuts, I guess....also bought two Harleys in the last couple of years....anyway that's my story.....

Anybody got a nice K Isty you wanna unload???

52 years old - that little black plastic thing they made you play was probably called a Tonette.
