Location Of Your Cowbell Mount Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Being an active player way back in the '60s it seems like most cowbell mounts, whether as "stand-alone" items or combined with block mounts, seemed to clamp directly onto the wooden bass drum hoops of your respective kits.

I'm wondering if most of today's "active" drummers still mount their bells there or whether it's more common to find them mounted on cymbal stands.

I imagine that the pressure applied to the bass drum hoops with the tightening of the bell clamps couldn't have had anything but a negative effect on the over-all condition of the wooden hoops. Am I correct?

I still used a cowbell today,if iam playing a 4 piece set i still mount the cowbell on the middle of the bass drum hoop...also when iam playing a 5 piece set..but when iam playing say 3 to 4 toms i move the cowbell on a stand next to the hi-hat next to the snare same is true when i playing double bass...Mikey

I have to say, playing my kit for the local 4th of July Parade WITH the cowbell has gotten us several Blue Ribbons- my Ludwig cowbell is about 8 inches, and I still put it on the kick-drum hoop for fun-a different sound...so- place it where it's easiest to reach. BTW- the cowbell stays home for most other gigs. Don't know what your style is, but wind chimes, triangles and finger cymbals are traps that give a less dated sound, unless it's a 'cover' song. Enjoy your drums!

I have a George Way cowbell from the '50's that I mount on the bass drum hoop. But If I'm using my modern ones I attach them to the rod on my hi-hat stand.

I like it on the hoop and or on the stand right of the floor tom. On the lud kit, because the tambourine is on the same rod as the cowbell of the mini everything rack, it chings every time the cowbell is hit for a cool effect.

I have one mounted on the Bass drum and one mounted by the HH between the HH and Tom. I don't like the Bass drum mount because I have my toms fairly close together and I sometimes strike one when playing it. I really like how Olimpass has it mounted. I'll have to try that way. Looks good.

I already clamp my pedal to the hoop, so I have no problem doing the same with the cowbell. If it's dead center, I can play it with either hand.

My Cowbell is mounted way off to the right side of the stage. I hate cowbells. I make the keyboard guy hit it.
