Looking for just a swivel nut for a LUDWIG ACROLITE snare.. Last viewed: 3 hours ago

drumsforsale.com has a couple different Ludwig swivel nuts, but just want to make sure I don't get the wrong one.. Can anybody confirm which one goes with an Acrolite? I know I could pop it out to make sure but I'd rather just wait and pop it out when I'm ready to replace it since it's still functional enough as is.

Or if anybody just has an extra one or two lying around I could buy off ya..

I may need the spring for one too? Unless Acrolites use the springless kind? I need someone to drop some knowledge on me.

Take the lug off the drum and see which one it is, only the late 90's to current model uses the springless lugs. so if you have a monroe badge drum it may be that type? What is wrong with the swivel nut?

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

It's a late 70's Acrolite. The problem is the rod screws into the nut very difficultly.. Requires some force, but does actually fit. Just should be smooth (can't even finger-tight it from the beginning). I tried some lubricant but it didn't help. It's annoying because I can't judge how tight that part of the head is when the resistance on that lug is automatically different.

Would replacing the nut be the solution? Just what I figured it could be..

May be some shapnel in the nut.. pull the lug apart and place the nut in a vice..Run a pipe cleaner through the nut.. Then take a close look at the thread on the tension screw.. and give it a good clean with a stiff brush.. run the screw through the nut a few times backwards and forwards till it loosens up..( you should be able to "Chuck" it and use a battery drill on slow speed) .. then use some Vaseline on the screw..

Hope this helps

Try that t-rod on another lug first, and another t-rod on the suspect nut to see which, or possibly if both t-rod and nut have damage.

Thanks. I'll figure out if it's the rod and/or nut, and then figure out what I gotta replace..

UPDATE: It is just the rod that has some threading damage.. The nut is fine. Doh!

Anybody have an extra old tension rod that would fit that I could buy off ya? Preferrably vintage, so it's matching the rest of these.. 70's acrolite..
