I'm going to be checking out a Supra at some point this week. The owner claims that it is a pre-serial number Ludalloy Supra with crimped snare beds. I wasn't aware that these existed, and was hoping you guys could educate me regarding this particular drum. Obviously this would be a transitional drum, and I'm curious to know how rare they might be. It is my understanding that the chrome is flaking badly, and the muffler is missing; but for $150, I'm thinking that this is probably a decent deal. What do you say, guys?
Ludalloy Supra with crimped snare beds? Last viewed: 2 hours ago
Yes they exist,, this was the last of the crimped beds production . I can't really say as to the added collectable of the drum but it should add something, I would try for a cheaper price, also to make matters even worse, at this time period they even has some steel shelled supras
+1..Preserial number drums usually bring higher prices, but condition is everything,as well correct hardware.P-83 strainer/P-32 butt, red baseball bat muffler(small chance of a small knob muffler),no extra holes, ect.
Its not a transition drum. The only transition drums I have ever seen were COB shell Super Ludwigs, not Supraphonics.Transition drums will also have the brass and blue keystone badge, not the preserial keystones.Check out some late ebay auctions for market value....150 is not bad if the drum is in really good shape, which they usually aren't.
