Those are worth the money. They are the thicker shells and have a very different sound than the 3 ply kits. Good sounds but a very different feel. You really should play them at least once in your lifetime.
True that. I played a 70s 6-ply Luddy kit at a club show once and couldn't believe my ears. The drums just did everything I wanted them to do (except stay put -- the rack tom kept swinging away from me whenever I hit it. There were some hardware issues). Really nice, warm tones.
