The white nylon/plastic connector between the pedal and the center rod of my Ludwig spurlock hi hat pedal broke last gig. Is there a repair for this part? The pedal is find, just the plastic part broke in the middle. Do I just need to find another used spurlock and replace it that way? Is there an aftermarket or another way to fix this part? I am not concerned with originality, as I am with functionally and durability. Thanks!

I'm sure a trip to the hardware store will show you a way to fix that. A hose clamp or a piece of plumber's tape might do it. Pretty sure someone here fixed one with a zip-tie once....marko
Any sort of metal, leather, plastic, or rubber strap will work as long as it connects the two pieces together. It just needs to be strong enough to withstand the pulling forces.
Ludwig Vistalite Big Beat set consisting of:
14” X 22” bass, 16” X 16” floor tom, 8” X 12” ride tom, 9” X 13” ride tom, 5” X 14” snare
Ludwig 201 Speed King bass drum pedal
Ludwig 1124 Spur-lok hit-hat with Ludwig Standard Paiste 14” cymbals (760 & 770 gr) with ching-ring
Two Ludwig Standard S-270 cymbals stands
18” Zildjian crash cymbal (1550 gr) and 20” Zildjian ride cymbal (2130 gr) with CAMCO sizzler
Gibraltar motorcycle seat-style drum throne with backrest
This is a common problem with the spur lock pedals. I am surprised that no one has developed a fix for this yet! Thank you for your responses. I will try to see if my local hardware store can come up with a fix for this. I will let you all know if I find a solution.
My 1123 from 1965 gave out last year. Filed down the remaining white plastic on the footboard to make a sleeve so there is no rubbing. Put on a hose clamp, ran some small nylon pull ties through the slots locking both overlapping sections of the hose clamp. Finally a drop of epoxy on the hose clamp screw head to prevent any rotation of the screw.
Good as new!

Hey! Thanks a million for that one! Brilliant! And very well explained and illustrated, too.
Thanks again. I'm gonna try this.

A Phd. engineer friend of mine is producing a fix for the vintage Ludwig hi hat part mentioned in this thread. It is very close to the original manufactuers specs. This is the white nylon connector and the rivets needed to secure the connector to the pedal and the rod connector. If anyone is interested in this part, let me know. I have repaired two of my vintage hi hats perfectly with this part!
