Ludwig 14x 14 club date Last viewed: 17 hours ago

Loading...

A friend wants to sell his red sparkle 1967 Ludwig 14 x 14 floor tom(club date), that he bought brand new in 67', to match up to a non-Ludwig set, and this is the only drum, he has left in the basement for 30 years or more. He is not pursuing music, so he's getting rid of it.

I cleaned up the wrap, and hardware. The lugs look really good...leg brackets have some rust on the top of the mounts, but the exteriors are nice...the legs work great. The hoops, and legs have some pitting...a few bent tension rods, and one hoop is a little bent. There are a few speckles of white paint on the drum, but it should come off fairly easy.

The shell has a slight flat spot where the wrap meets. Is this common ? Also, there is some slight ply to ring spearation in one spot. It is nothing major. The drum tunes up great, and doesn't need a Aquarian vintage head. It also has the original Weather Master heads. It's not mint, but not a beater. What would be a fair price ?

thanks

I know it ****ed me off. Here the guy is telling me he doesn't have a lot of money and he says he can't come up with $450...so, I say okay he wants it more than me."$425 it is"But I'm sure he's a good guy at heart.

This just happened to me on c*list. Sold my onyx board($1500) for 250. I was hurting real bad. Only to look again and he had posted it up for $450. *******s for sure. I even wrote him asking if I could just get it back if he was just turning around to sell it and he says "well I wanna make a little money so you can get it back for the 450" Soap Box

Maybe the karma you mentioned came around.

I think I know which champagne sparkle club date you are talking about. Did it happen to have a 3" scratch?

That drum languished at $400. Then he brought it down to $350. Then I thought it sold for $300 on a best offer.

But...lo and behold after the supposed sale, there it was again on ebay, this time in an auction.

I picked it up for $222.50 plus shipping last night.

So if he ends up marking down the other 3 drums $100, then he has made almost nothing--and put all that work into selling & ebay costs. Karma?

PLUS, it looks like you sold the Ludwig FT to him with no bottom rim. He had to buy and put a snare one on there (has the cut out for the snare wires) and buy some lugs. And new heads. A karma coup de grace?

I had a Club date combo and now I have a Club Date set!

He got $320 for the rest of the drums and 222 for the floor. So, he only made $100. You will like the floor...It never had a scratch on it when I sold it. It is re-painted and has beautiful chrome. Hope you enjoy it!
