Ludwig 18x20 floor tom Last viewed: 4 hours ago

From D-Rum

Wow, thank you guys for the info! Right now i'm using an 18 floor, 14 rack, and 26 kick. Really the only reason I was wanting the 20 was because I was gonna re finish another luddy kit, but use a 16 rack and 28 kick. So I was really just looking to up the sizes. But I can see how a 20" floor would give me some problems. If I do anything, i'll probably go with precision, and have them make me one. I really appreciate it guys!

:D If you happen to be in the Market for a Ludwig 14x28 Bass Drum, I have a new one for sale. Thanks & Good luck!D' Drummer

I don't know if a 14" depth buys you anything if you are setting it high. No tone, no volume. I would suggest a 12 depth, even a 10.

Look on eBay for a marching snare or marching tom...they are often either 14, 15, or 16 and usually 12" deep...they tend to go cheap because they aren't highly sought after...

I found a pretty nice wfl marching snare. 12x15, 8 lugs per side. Think this would work out alright for a rack tom? I dont know much about marching snares :P Its also mahogany, with maple re-rings I think..i've never played any mahogany shells, but I hear they have a nice deep/fat sound :D ye ne?

IMHO, it'd be a great size for the rack tom of your monster kit.....the only question being is it a different shell config than your others (i.e. thickness, number of plys more importantly than wood species)....
